Finding My Mother's Children

I just created a new facebook page to help find my mother's children which were kidnapped over thirty years ago by their father.  Please take a moment to look, like, and share.

Crochet Hobo Bag in progress

Right now I am working on a Crocheted Hobo bag inspired by a post here.  Please take a moment to check out the original bag, and the person who adapted a pattern for the bag.

The pattern for this is very easy and can be made pretty quick.  I'm changing it up a bit, as you can tell ;).  I plan on adding some floral embellishment to mine.  This is just a pic of my work in progress.  I'll be posting the final pic when I am finally done with some explanation so that it can be easily duplicated.  I also have some awesome flowers to do patterns and tutorials on and I can't wait.  :)

I start school again next Wednesday, but will hopefully try to publish at least once a week.  We'll see.  Missing my friends, and glad to be back. :)

Crochet Sun Hat

I've recently learned how to crochet and have fallen completely in love with it.  I want to start posting patterns if I find an interest in my work, or maybe I'll just do it anyway cause I can.   Ahhh, the wonders of the internet. :)

Here is a sun hat I made my daughter using Caron Simply Soft yarn. I made an extra ruffly border, which (call me crazy), I love.

A side view gives you a better view of the detail.

I might post a pattern so it can be easily duplicated. Maybe....hmmmmm?

Polymer Clay Crochet Handle

I recently started a new hobby...crochet.  Now, why did I start this?  Because I didn't know how, and I wanted to know how.  That's all, just like my Van Gogh quote. :)  I'm rather simple if you just look at it that way.  :)

Anywho, I noticed pretty soon that my right hand would ache from holding the crochet hook. So started my search to fix this.  I mean, there had to be a way to fix this right??

I searched high and low and found some nifty (if not ugly) products out there said to help (not to mention pricey).  I found some polymer clay covered crochet hooks (some were pretty) but I didn't think they would work the way I wanted them too (not thick enough), and you have to buy the hooks cause the handles are not removable (I already have hooks I don't want to buy more), so, what is a girl to do.

I made my own, and because I couldn't find one good tutorial out there I decided to make that too.  So, here is my finished results... (not the best pics as they were taken with my cell phone)

The one in the middle was made just a tad different, which is explained in the video, which in turn gave it a stone kind of look.  Cool? Yes, but not my fave.  The other two I love.  They remind me of this old engraved letter opener my husband had.  These remind me of the movie Ever After for some reason, probably because they just make me feel all fairytale and romance.

I'm thinking of making some to sell and see how that goes.  We'll see, as for now, here is the vid to make your own if you know how or if you want to, or whatever.  Enjoy!

From my Phone.

Just trying out my blogger app on my android.  Now, I might actually get some blogging done, hehehe. Don't expect any long writing from the phone though. Even with swype, it would take forever. :-)

Finally Back!

Ok, so what have I been up to?  Everything!
Just had a baby two months ago, and here he is
This is Mr. Justus Boyd
He's a bit older now, by two months, but here you get the jist, lol.  I'll do more pics later on.
Another thing I've been doing is Cosmetology school.  I finally decided to put my creativity into a field where I can at least expect some sort of pay check ;), though that won't stop my crafting.
So, now that I'm on medical leave and healed up from my c-section, I'm back to crafting.
Hopefully I can do better at keeping up my blog, but if not, then you'll hear from me every so often.  I hope
to do more videos, and tutorials, but we'll see. :)

On to my next obsession.  It's called Quilling.  I plan on making some earrings and selling and well, just seeing how they go.  Here are some pics and lmk what you think when you get a chance. :)

These are awesome cause you can barely tell they are on.  So lightweight, perfect for people like me who love big earrings, but hate the weight of them.

Been Away for Prego Belly

For those who follow me, just wanted to let you know I've been away because I am pregnant (19 weeks now) and for the past few months just being online made me want to throw up.  I am feeling much better now, actually great, and will be starting Cosmetology school on Monday, Aug 1st.  This will again be something that takes up a bit of time and may prevent me from posting regularly, although one day I will get this blogging thing down so I am posting more often.  I have plenty of worship songs that I've been working on that I can't wait to make everyone aware of, if you are not already.  I also have some awesomely cool things to post in tutorials, but been so sick, and busy on top of it.

Because of cosmetology school I'll have cool nail art and stuff to post as well eventually.  My main interest is nails so we'll see how that goes.  I hope everyone is well, and I hope to be back to business as usual soon (at least until baby #3 arrives).  For those who wish to help with the baby (we live with mother-in-law and husband is on his 2nd appeal for disability and we have NO baby stuff) please check out my Target registry under the name Anna Boyd.  Gift Cards from target or Joann's are much appreciated as well as I hope to make my own diaper bag, and baby bedding (we have a mini crib and bedding for them are well, awful).  Thanks to all my helpful friends ;).
