Crochet Sun Hat

I've recently learned how to crochet and have fallen completely in love with it.  I want to start posting patterns if I find an interest in my work, or maybe I'll just do it anyway cause I can.   Ahhh, the wonders of the internet. :)

Here is a sun hat I made my daughter using Caron Simply Soft yarn. I made an extra ruffly border, which (call me crazy), I love.

A side view gives you a better view of the detail.

I might post a pattern so it can be easily duplicated. Maybe....hmmmmm?

Polymer Clay Crochet Handle

I recently started a new hobby...crochet.  Now, why did I start this?  Because I didn't know how, and I wanted to know how.  That's all, just like my Van Gogh quote. :)  I'm rather simple if you just look at it that way.  :)

Anywho, I noticed pretty soon that my right hand would ache from holding the crochet hook. So started my search to fix this.  I mean, there had to be a way to fix this right??

I searched high and low and found some nifty (if not ugly) products out there said to help (not to mention pricey).  I found some polymer clay covered crochet hooks (some were pretty) but I didn't think they would work the way I wanted them too (not thick enough), and you have to buy the hooks cause the handles are not removable (I already have hooks I don't want to buy more), so, what is a girl to do.

I made my own, and because I couldn't find one good tutorial out there I decided to make that too.  So, here is my finished results... (not the best pics as they were taken with my cell phone)

The one in the middle was made just a tad different, which is explained in the video, which in turn gave it a stone kind of look.  Cool? Yes, but not my fave.  The other two I love.  They remind me of this old engraved letter opener my husband had.  These remind me of the movie Ever After for some reason, probably because they just make me feel all fairytale and romance.

I'm thinking of making some to sell and see how that goes.  We'll see, as for now, here is the vid to make your own if you know how or if you want to, or whatever.  Enjoy!
